About Us

The Preservation Society produces a delicious selection of award winning chutneys, sirops and preserves, all packed with flavour & made in small batches at home in Chepstow.

March 2014, we have won a Gold at the World Marmalade Awards for our Limey Lime Marmalade.

August 2013, we have been awarded two Great Taste Awards, a 2* for our Buttery & Boozy Mincemeat and a 1* for our Candied Jalapenos.

In October 2012 we won a Bronze Wales The True Taste Award for our Ravishingly Raspberry Preserve.

In October 2012 we were a finalist in the Monmouthshire Business Awards and had the pleasure of joining Jamie Owen on the Jamie & Louise Show, BBC Radio Wales.

We love to use local, seasonal quality produce and work with a number of amazing local suppliers – we call them our local food heroes! We SwapCrop with home growers and love even more to recycle, giving you money off your next jar for every one of our jars that you return!We joined The Rudry Kitchen on October 2010 as a founding cooperative member and The Preservation Society was created in 2011 following years of producing chutneys and pickles as a guilty pleasure for friends and family. Archie, our 6yr old, stands proudly as our chief taster and critic.

We were awarded our Grade 5 in the National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme….the best rating you can receive.

We have a selection of chutneys and pickles available throughout the year along with our delicious seasonal delicacies and as we produce by hand in small batches, our batches will vary.

 All of our products come with a list of ingredients and cooking/eating suggestions – if you have any quirkier ideas, please let us know as we love hearing from you. Our Apricot, Almond & Amaretto preserve is perfect with croissants and ice cream but our best friend Louise disagrees, “it’s for cheese sarnies!” – who’d have thought?

We work with a number of local producers and suppliers, we call them our Local Food Heroes:

  • We have some great SwapCroppers including Chepstow Walkers are Welcome, Ray Martins, Rosemarie Morrison, Ann Corrick, Rob Lewis, Gayle Macdonald and Vyvyan Lucas who lovingly share their glut of fruit for our jars.
  • Medhope Cottage, Tintern – Sally grows the most delicious raspberries and strawberries.
  • Blodyn Aur Welsh Rapeseed Oil – produce gorgeously golden Welsh rapeseed oil, it’s a joy to cook with.
  • Halen Mon Anglesey Sea Salt – it’s so delicious and natural, a brilliant team, to work with.
  • C Wynne Jones, Narbeth provide our lovely jars.
  • Cradocs in Brecon – Allie makes the most wonderful cheese biscuits, they won a True Taste Award in 2011, her Welsh Rain cheese biscuit is a delight.
  • Gareth Huw Photography is behind some of our great photos.
  • The Rudry Kitchen, our fabulous cooperative of local producers including us, Baked by Mel’s gorgeous cupcakes, Plant2Plate’s delicious meals, Hellfire Creations cards and jewellery, Sarah Moody’s local honey, pork and local crafts, Tracey Hoy’s paintings and more.
  • Ty Mawr Organic, Raglan grow great fruit and vegetables, all organically and local.
  • The Untapped Brewing Company supply their ale for our chutney.
  • Three Saints Cider & Perry, LLantrisant near Usk, produce our delicious cider vinegar and scrumpy.
  • Hallets Cider, Blaengawney Farm, Crumlin produce delicious cider for our scrumpy jelly and a great sparkly that is delicious with our Ravishingly Raspberry Vinegar.
